but I'm trying to setup my new mac and it'sasking for a DHCP number. Does anyone know what one is/how I find it out??

# Do you use broadband or dialup?
It's the address of the server that gives you an IP address. If you have broadband, try 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.8.1. You could try just leaving it blank also.

You can probably skip the bit about DHCP and choose 'Static IP address' and enter 192.168.0.2

If your mac's connected straight to the cable box (or cable modem) you need to ring telewest and give them your MAC address. (Click on the apple in the top left, then about this mac, then more, then in the new box click "Network" on the left, then Built in Ethernet on the top pane, and you want the thing like 00:0a:95:db:e9:84 that's marked as "ethernet address".

If you're connected via a router to the cable box, shout and I'll tell you how to sort it.
