# I hate to nit pick
but he does have to deliver mail for other companies. Nobody else has the infrastructure or the finances to actually put mail through people's doors.

Otherwise, woo.

EDIT: Just read your blog. Well written! But I should point out that all upstream mail providers pay Royal Mail for the sort and final mile, and also pay an access fee for delivering into their sort centres.

#
not my blog :)

I know what you're saying. But if it was really a free-market they would HAVE to have their own infrastructure etc. Its not really competition otherwise in my opinion.

Then again Im a socialist type and think water and rail should be nationalised, and there should be public options for utilities etc.

# I'm not a socialist type...
...but I think water and rail should be nationalised too.

Free market types who've actually read economics books understand that private monopolies are just really really bad. In every way. Having many small monopolies is not competition. Public sector provision is waaaaaaaay preferable even to some of us loonies who like competition.

# It's about bloody time
someone posted something like this.

I had to collect a parcel from my sorting office last week, but I waited until today so that I didn't have to pick it up from a scab manager.
