fuck off
twats everyone buying either one
I can't believe you've made me side more with the XFactor.
I'd rather have some insipid karaoke child pleasing the old dears and kids at Christmas who do care about the UK number 1 than a song from the 90s that was only popular because of swearing making a few geeks online giggle.
Why the fuck didn't you pick Slade or something vaguely Festive. Wankers

I thought the point was to buy it to piss off the XFactor fans
see, now you're confusing your motivation.
Maybe if the people teling you to do stuff had sent better instructions you wouldn't be in this mess

I actually like Rage Against the Machine.
My hate for the X Factor is secondary in comparison.
Might have something to do with me doing a lot of skating in the 90s, but hey ho.

I do actually like RATM but I agree with waht you're saying but mainly because
it's the point that we are being told what to buy to stop us buying what we are told to buy - personally I couldn't give a fuck!

Yeah, but it's not like they were behind it.
And the charity angle is pretty good considering how it has snowballed. They can hardly say 'actually, don't buy it', can they?
Because then you would be doing what they told you.

because Xmas number 1's are usually shite
and this is a good tune, regardless of the swearing?
As much as I don't give much of a toss about the charts, surely you'd agree that after these insipid X factor clones getting the number 1 slot for 5 years in a row, it's time to break the cycle?

I think it's a rubbish tune
They did much better stuff like Bombtrack or guerilla radio, the later of which, I think would have made more sense

Know Your Enemy was best, IMO

I thought the chap who set up the group
chose it as the most popular Rage tune, and that the emphasis was on the group, their name and what they stood for?

It's a good job you dont know that both songs are owned by Sony...
...so it's probably just a marketing ploy to generate revenue
Because that would really nark you off
i'm sure you do know, I was just pointing it out for those that didnt

That was the first thing I thought when I heard about it.
"What record label are RATM on?"
"Sony."
"But of course."
Couldn't have been a classic bit of NOFX, could it.

X Factor is Syco records,
Rage is Epic records,
They may both be owned by Sony, but the record labels themselves are completely independent of eachother, neither of them will see profits from the other label. Sony will, but not a whole lot, I wouldn't think.

they will both see higher profits
as each is being bought by one camp or the other to outdo their rival

Actually Slade would have been good
I think the choice of song was more directed at Simon Cowell himself. However I the Album RATM was an iconic one not only in its orginal style but in it not using guitar effects other than that available on a guitar amp.
It inspired a lots of muscians for years to come.
If Slade had been used I don't think that it would have had the same impact.

indeed, would have been nice (in a humourous way) to get ol' Tel to the top of the charts the week he leaves :)
still, n'mind :)

I know this (regular listener)
the Floral dance has more of a 'humourous' tone to it, which (to me, at least) would have subverted the trite offerings by X factor a tad better.
