TGA's NORWICH BASH!!!

Come and help me see out the 20's and see in the 30's in style in that 'fine city' called Norwich - and be minutes away from Delia's pride and joy - the Canaries

For all those driving and new to Norfolk - don't expect motorways, and please drop me a line here for directions/maps etc.

For train travellers - We'll be starting at the Riverside Complex right next to Norwich Train Station, exact hostelry to be decided nearer the time.

For Overnight stayers - Plenty of Holiday/Travel Inns in the City and on the outskirts with good links to the main City.

For details of all the above, put your question in the thread, and I'll answer there.

So, theres no excuse not to come now is there!

More details to be added soon... (I expect)

P.S. Board Nazi costumes optional to make me feel at home....

If anyone is staying overnight and fancies it, a slap up sunday lunch somewhere in Norwich is also a possibility the following day.

For those driving, please allow 3 days to get enough speed up around the ring road to leave the Time Warp...

OK folks, starting venue will probably be the Old Orleans Bar right in the heart of the Riverside complex. It's next door to the Station and Multi Storey Car Park so easy to find.

On the day in question, there is a Home Game for Norwich City, so this area is likely to be BUSY between 12noon and 2.30pm, and again from 4.30pm and 6pm when they all turn up and leave, so be careful you crazy kids...

When they've all buggered off to the football ground at 2.30 - or before, we can all move to a quieter Hostelry nearby and sample some of Norfolk's finest, by that time, everyone who is anyone should have turned up and found us at the Riverside Complex.

here is a brief map for those training it and by car on parking and where to find riverside...

If ANYONE has problems, or can suggest a better starting venue, you've got a few days left, this means YOU Norfolk people!

HURRAH!

ACTUALLY... ANOTHER EDIT, I WILL STILL BE LOOKING FOR A LIFT IF ANYONE WANT TO. THE TRAIN IS EXPENSIVE AND TAKES A FECKING LIFETIME. *HUMPH*

SO ANYONE GOING FROM NEAR SHEFF, GIVE ME A SHOUT PLEASE (:

sorry all, it's just not gonna happen i'm afraid! when i'm rich and maybe have a car! (:
(, Sun 4 Jun 2006, 20:59, Reply)
trains... don't talk to me about trains.

I was intending to come by train, but after discovering the return journey would be at an average speed of 20mph, I binned that idea... I know this is norfolk we're talking about, but I can't believe that it is actually quicker to travel by tractor than the train!

(, Wed 6 Sep 2006, 15:57, Reply)
agreed

i've gotta find out if i've got a car for then otherwise my attendance is unlikely.

dubious as I am about what might turn up when you combine b3ta with Norwich I am tetnitivley signing up - although I make no promises as this is actually my birthday and I am expecting to be unable to move under the load of presents given.

Interesting to see that there are actually norwichians here - wondering how many of you I have met/know from the other side...
I am Patch in real life...

Ooh

I shall be passing through Riverside on that very evening, so will pop in if time permits.

I won't officially sign up without certainty of arrival, as that would be VERY RUDE.

does anyone have any floor space for a tentative little one?

ok semi little one, but I'd still love to come if I can weasle a crash site and aren't too drunk from the tipi party the night before.

Ta :)

(, Sun 3 Sep 2006, 13:08, Reply)
might be worth seeing if 'not just a hatstand' has any floorspace left...

she lives quite close to 'roughly' where we're gonna be - hope you can make it :-)

(, Sun 3 Sep 2006, 17:52, Reply)
basically bring a sleeping bag

and if you can find floorspace, or fight for the bath it's yours :)

GA - depending on how lost you want to get people, there is the St Andrews Tavern in the city or Reindeer at the city end of Dereham Road, or The (award winning) Fat Cat a bit further along for interesting beers or one of the Weatherspoons in the city (for cheaper beers)

PS Folks if you are coming and are planning to stay at mine (TuTT, invinovertis, crazyjude, mugatu etc) send me an email (see my profile) and I will send directions parking (we have a guest resident permit for outside ours and my mum has kindly offered her guest permit parking space about 15 mins walk from mine)

This is terrible, and I'm very very sorry, but I'm not going to be able to make it.

I'm not really feeling in the best of health at the moment and the second draft of the play I've been comissioned to write by Hampstead Theatre is due in next week. Dedicating the weekend to booze is probably not the best idea under the circumstances.
I'm really sorry because I was really looking forward to it, but I must be a sensible sod. Bah.
