But I did enjoy the use of 'buckin' instead of 'fuckin'.
That's what my wee granny used to say instead of swearing e.g. 'There I've just put a washing oot and it's started buckin raining'

Could it have been "bucketing it down" (i.e. as much rain as it it were being poured out of buckets)?

'Buckin' was definitely the Glaswegian old person way of swearing without actually swearing. Haven't heard people say it for years, but Burnistoun throw into a sketch every now and again. A bit like feck for the Irish.
