You missed the TNT diver here
telling me all about the time he met 'Lenny' from Motorhead.

That was nice.

Diver?

(, Wed 8 Aug 2012, 17:06, Reply)
Yes, diver.
Because of the Olympics TNT are sending out divers on their vans. It's all very 'TEAM GB'
(, Wed 8 Aug 2012, 17:09, Reply)
I'm all about TEAM GB!

I've heard a rumour you know about 'vinyl'
I've found a job lot of tat LPs in a junk shop, but there's a few limited edition promo 12 inches in there too. Where's the best place to check what they're worth?
(, Wed 8 Aug 2012, 17:09, Reply)
Discogs.com

It's an odd thing
but sometimes white labels and promos are not worth as much as the pic sleeve proper release. collectors are fucking weird.
(, Wed 8 Aug 2012, 17:16, Reply)
No, they seem to be the real sleeves
just have 'Not for resale' stamped on them.
(, Wed 8 Aug 2012, 17:17, Reply)
Doesn't really mean much.
Unless the promo has otherwise unavailable tracks/ mixes, or is from a highly collectible label, then not worth much.

What are the records in question?
(, Wed 8 Aug 2012, 17:19, Reply)
Oh, just numbers 001-100 on some label called Mo Wax?
I've paid Beth £10 for the lot because I'm nice like that.
(, Wed 8 Aug 2012, 17:21, Reply)
I'll give you £15 for the lot.
You can keep the 'swaps' as well.
(, Wed 8 Aug 2012, 17:22, Reply)
Condition is all.
If you have ringwear (lol) or sleeve damage the value plummets.

You can still make on them but 'proper' collectors ie spastics have a real problem with damage even if the thing plays perfectly. This is fucking stupid. I have no problem with reissues etc vs originals particularly new ones as often they're remastered to massive improvement.

Best example I can think of offhand here is the New York Dolls LPs which sound fucking dreadful unless you get the reissues done in the past year or two.

When I was in Crash in Leeds on Monday they had a vinyl reissue of The Stooges.
I nearly bought it.
(, Wed 8 Aug 2012, 17:22, Reply)
and then what happened?

(, Wed 8 Aug 2012, 17:22, Reply)
I bought an Arab Strap album instead.
Times are tough.

Refridgerated anecdote, male sibling.

(, Wed 8 Aug 2012, 17:24, Reply)
Yeah
a cursory search seems to indicate an average price of a couple of quid for each of them. Totally not worth my effort to buy the whole box and try to shift a lot of James Last tat alongside these ones.

Thanks for your help though, boys.
(, Wed 8 Aug 2012, 17:22, Reply)
Oh, the last one is worth a bit more.
US import by a guy called Paulinho da Costa. Sings in portuguese, so I'm guessing Brazilian.

Still only worth about £15 though, so I won't bother.
(, Wed 8 Aug 2012, 17:25, Reply)
Sell it to Tangles.
He's an Andy Kershaw idiot.

For a white lass from Yorkshire, she's well into reggae.
Even went out with a black trumpet player in a band, the dirty skank.
