Wut?In the 90s I lived in Aberdeen and near Cardiff.
And the internet meant that all you needed to be at the cutting edge was to know what was going on. There are dozens of stone-cold classic hip hop albums from the 90s, I could bore you with a list but won't.
The innovation that the genre saw was incredible, conscious hip hop, instrumental hip hop becoming more than just background music, backpack hip hop, labels like Mush, Def Jux, Mo Wax and Ninja Tune, the UK becoming a distinct beast with its own voice, just a fantastic decade for hip hop.

Not sure what you mean by interwebbing names to look cool.All the labels I mentioned above are in my collection. Mo Wax in particular.
