This is a question Racist grandparents

It Came From Planet Aylia says: "My husband's mad Auntie Joan accused the man seven doors down of stealing her milk as he was the first black neighbour she had. She doesn't even get her milk delivered." Tell us about casual racism from oldies.

Thanks to Brayn Dedd who suggested this too

is not racist as such. A persons race has nothing to do with whether they are allowed in to a country - its their nationality that is discriminated against. The Spanish are not a race of people but a nationality comprising of many races.

That said it all gets blurred when you look at countries such as Indian, Pakistan, China, etc. The Chinese are both a race and a nationality. I'm going to argue this out with myself for a while....

OK you are all cunts and no one should be let into my cafe.

Look, the point is that immigration policy doesn't discriminate by race, nationality, or anything else
It's a blanket policy - the UK's policy is based on non-EU immigration. Nothing to do with being Chinese, Indian, Australian, whatever.

The reasons behind having an immigration policy are also nothing to do with race - it's all about Labour market economics. An uncontrolled increase in the supply of labour can have unwelcome effects - depression of wages, higher levels of unemployment, etc etc. Governments seek to control these factors, as they can have knock-on effects for the rest of the economy. It's nothing to do with Spanish people taking longer to drink coffees or any other fuckwitted analogy. Plain and simple

Don't get me wrong...
I said it was not about about race, I was just making a point that there is a difference between race and nationality.

We discriminate (literal meaning of the word, rather than any derogatory meaning) at our borders against every nationality apart from the EU nations. This may well be for the reasons you describe.

There was criticism of the immigration and citizenship acts that formed the basis of UK immigration law. The British Nationality Act in 1981 was very contentious as it concerned the commonwealth and ex colonies.

I don't know enough about this though to really say much else

Fuck, it was the 80s
Thatcher screwed pretty much everyone equally - best thing you could say about her. When it came to fucking people over, she rarely discriminated

Its not a exactly a blanket policy.
Even for visiting as tourists.. Some countries have a harder time getting in than others.
If youre born in Spain you can walk into the UK without answering a single question.
If youre born in the United States then you can walk into the UK saying "Im here to see Big Ben, and Im going home next week"
If you're born in South Africa you gotta prat applying for visas hoping they'll let you in.
