This is a question Money-saving tips

I'm broke, you're broke, we're all broke. Even the smug guy on the balcony with the croissant hasn't got two AmEx gold cards to rub together these days. Tell everybody your schemes to save cash.

Don't bother
with pre-packed mushrooms. A 250g punnet of mushrooms works out more expensive than just putting some loose ones in a paper bag. Also, you get to pick the best ones out of the crate.

The Asda Smart Price mushrooms are cheaper than the loose ones by weight, but they're not perfect and are only worth getting if you intend to use them all later that day.

supermarket veg is a bad idea
unless you only have enough time in your week to do one big shop, its a really good idea to go to a green grocers Sooo much cheaper and because its not tampered with keeps for much longer.

Your mileage may vary.
I tried the newly-opened greengrocer's round my way one time to find that:

- everything was horrendously expensive;
- half of what I paid for was mud stuck to the vegetables; and
- once I'd washed the mud off, what was left was pretty nasty anyway.

Pick the ones on the lawn.
They don't cost anything.
