UK government.
Save everyone's time and money by not making 1P and 2P coins. We don't need them, some people even throw them away, and thier continied use causes more trouble than it's worth.

Oh aye
It was the thing to do among certain kids when I was at school in the late 80s - If they bought something from the ice-cream van* and received less than five pence in change, they would fling the coppers to the ground to demonstrate how very rich they were. Anyone seen picking up discarded coins would be met with the charming taunt of "Aaaaaaaah! Jew!" - Those History lessons on the atrocities of World War 2 and the appalling rise of anti-Semitism clearly having a big impact on them. So for all the talk about Broken Britain and the terrible state of youths today, it's important to remember that back in the good old days of Swingball and Transformers, children were little shits then too.

*Yes, every lunch-break, an ice-cream van would roll up at school and sell a vast array of brightly-coloured E numbers to children. Lollies, fizzy drinks, sweets, enough to make Jamie Oliver shit his designer Lambretta pants with rage solidly for an entire month. Surprisingly, most lessons after lunch consisted of about 5% learning and 95% teachers coaxing children back down from the ceiling.

it will be the death
of wishing fountains everywhere. Plus how will you be able to unlock toilet cubicle doors from the outside, the the amusement of the person in there having a dump?

they are handy for giving to my 3 y/o when he demands money
but hasn't really worked out that 2p is pretty useless

My son was pleased that, on handing over "one money"
the shop keeper gave him sweets and "five monies", so that he had more money than he started with, and some sweets. Epic win, so far as he was concerned.
