Maiden my dear.
My hair used to look like that too, but blonde with streaks of whatever was lying around in my mum's bathroom cabinet ;)
I have photos of me going to a Japan concert in 1979 and of the 4 guys and on girl in the pic you would be hard-pressed to tell the girl apart!
Strange days indeed.

but maybe I'm getting old but can't help thinking stuff was so much better then.

Nostalgia..
not like it used to be ;)
I loved my youth. It was all over too quick.
I saw Duran Duran before they had a hit single out. Saw Ultravox on the Vienna tour. Can't remember where I saw Visage play, it may have been supporting Spandau Ballet ( because they certainly did not have enough material for a full set of their own ).
Ah, I'm an old new romantic ;)

........Ultravox went downhill when MIdge Ure joined
First album with John Foxx was good stuff...

Duran Duran on the other hand were better after a few years...
when Nile Rodgers produced Notorious for them...now THAT was good stuff

I can't disagree with you
but still can't avoid the fact that I saw Duran Duran and Ultravox in the small and cosy Manchester Apollo ( Take that kids, when we went to see bands we could still see the stage!) and remember having a jolly good time. ( I was front row for Duran Duran around the time they released Planet Earth. I recall being slightly scared by Nick Rhodes. )
Oh yeah and Billy Currie blew me away the first time I heard that electric violin live on the Vienna tour.
Interestingly for me I have met Dennis (John Foxx) a couple of times at events in recent years. He's not what you would expect.
