Well, I was in born in Gloucester, and I am from roun' them parts. And I can confirm that some of the south gloucestershire accents do indeed sound a bit zummerzet like (go to the Forest of Dean, but move quickly), but the difference is, and pay attention here, people in Gloucester add 'mind' to the end of every sentence. Mind.
Anyway, true story about Stroud. I used to go a drinking down that way in my younger days and at one of the pubs was a patron who was so crusty (lots of crusties in Stroud, the five valleys funnel them into the town) that the only trousers he owned were ones fashioned from bar towels and safety pins. Every time one panel of his trousers got a bit worn he'd unpin it and pin on a new one from the bar. Mind.
