It would be better
if the pictures were jokes first, subtle changes second as was the intention, but it seems you can't stop people playing with photoshop.

the problem is that the competition has ended up being a technique rather than a subject - rather than things that make you look twice we are getting things that you need to look twice at to work out what is going on.
There's a subtle (arf) difference there...

I concur.
I mean I'm not the greatest tattyslopper in the world, but one of the reasons I come here is to see good work with an edge. It's inspiring. It's been a bit disappointing to see the responses to this compo - too much required either poring over it for ages (long single take) or really obvious (didn't even pass as normal).
"Subtlety" like sex and humour is something most of us think we're good at.
