i used the rules wizard to just not download antyhing with viagra or hilton or other relevant keywords in from the server and now i'm almost spamfree

you could set it to not download messages until requested... that way you can just look through the headers, most spam stands out a mile with it's ridiculous spelling

(have someone) set up your email server to use Spamassassin. Works great, is free.
