Wasn't it all somekind of Millitary experiment in the end?
To kill off anybody who had anything to do with the creation of the Cube, no matter how obscure their connection with the experiment was.

Bloody stupid, compelling at first trying to figure out where it was all leading only to be annoyed by the bloody stupid ending.
