you need to turn the anti aliasing off.
Set it to 'none' as in this pic
EDIT: Also rasterize the type before you rotate it - it won't go all 'higgledy piggledy' then

At first all you have to get used to is all of the different windows.
Then you have to get used to the fact almost NO plugins are avaliable.
Same for brushes.
You can find some on Deviantart though =)
