There are quite a few words I can never spell correctlyI blame my schooling and the first attempts at the phonics bollocks that they are now bringing in. For example they taught us to spell necessary "ness-ca-seree"

hey when I was a nipper in the early 70's they came out with some bollocks called itawhich was basically just spelling words exactly as they sounded ( similar to phonetics ) I could already read and write before I went to primary school and I had to learn that shite all over. Then they dropped it again without a word. Bollocks. I still find myself writing 'ov' for 'of' at times.

Is that really what phonics is?I was basically taught what sound letters and combinations of letters make. That way you could have a guess at a word you'd never seen before.
