# Dave this is really very ace... so I hope you don't mind me
FREDJOCKING.

Okay, I'll love anyone who can help. There are 2 PC's on my home network, one of them, mine, is working perfectly fine, yet the other and somewhat decrepid PC isn't. The Router is fine, and the PC is connected to the network, yet it times out constantly. No page will load on any browser. Any ideas?

# have you tried turning them off and on again?

# I've fuckin' tried everything I can think of.
It's running XP, and it's receiving a connection through a router using Ethernet ports.

# what does ipconfig say on the naughty machine?

# It's on wireless, i take it?
Got the latest drivers? Also, there's usually some setting in the wireless configuration bit that does it, like disabling smart card wotsit.

Ethernet, you say? Have you tried the same cable on both connections? Have you gone into your router settings and allowed both computers?

Also, sound stupid, but have you checked that the LAN connection is set to automatically connect and find settings?

# It's wired.
It's not the wire, as it's actively receiving the network connection no problems at all. The router is forwarding the connection perfectly too. I figure it's either a Firewall conflicting, or perhaps the PC is on its last legs (it has been for a while).

# Ha, I was right. Zone Alarms must've updated and conflicted with the hardware firewall.
SILLY.

THANKS ALL.

# Ah yes, zone alarm
The latest update from microsoft has serious conflicts with Zone Alarm. You need to download the latest ZA and install that. There's a load on that on the ZA site

# Cheers!!

# If you have 2 different firewalls on each PC then
I suggest you go into dos and ping a website on the offending pc. If you connect then you have a firewall problem.

Windows XP security update around 8th July caused problems if Zone Alarm was on your machine. It meant you couldn't connect to the interwebs.
Edit: If this is your problem go into Zone Alarm and set your internet security to Medium instead of High.
Edit: Aah I see this was your problem.
Edit2: Feck the first and only time I could be of techie assistance and I was B3tan tewit.
