# rumoured to be short for destroy data, it's a really low level utility for copying data.
there's a couple of higher level things based on it do you don't trash something while using it. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dd_(Unix)

I don't know if it's going to be any help though, you may have already tried a few things.

I have had my arse kicked for a month by a visting fellow (fairly famous in my feild) so I actually did some work. And I get to go to a conference in New Zealand in February, so I'm pretty chuffed. And you? other than losing a paper?

They complained soon after I got here because the tax on beer went up a cent or two a bottle. Actually it may have been as much as FIVE CENTS. I don't remember, chiefly because I'd just moved from a country selling bottled beer at about £1.80/bottle and was in one selling it for 70 fucking cents even after the tax increase!

no, it's the kind of thing that makes me glad that the only people likely to link me with b3ta are people who both know me *and* look at b3ta. hunting for me online shouldn't track any of this stuff down, which is something of a relief to me...
