As much as the original idea was good, I am loving the huge animals Alt compo!

Also, mind if i preform a minor threadjack here?

Does anyone know anything about educational licence copies of CS4?
I want a legit copy of CS4 and sure as hell can;t afford the individual licence, I do a bit of work with some colleges and also do some teaching, unfortunately as I am freelance I don;t have a staff ID

If i get someone to but it for me then I can use there ID but do adobe have any way of tracking and checking which licence has been used with work, I have metadata in my images that will tell me even as much as the serial number of the lens used, Just wondering if adobe output has the same things?

Dunno if anyone would know but thanks if anyone can!

# Anyone???
Please :-)

# Obviously
I can't comment on a legal basis or anything like that but I had a fairly similar conversation with Adobe a couple of years ago. I had two daughters at uni and both of them as well as me wanted Creative Suite. As I was going to be the purchaser I asked if I could also use their student edition on my computer and the short answer was no.

As we are all Mac users (I was new to mac at that time) the blessed things connect to Adobe updater on a very regular basis and I guess that is a way of checking the provenance of the software.

I know this is not your exact situation and as people do seem to get away with using completely pirate versions of CS it seems it is either one or the other; buy it or rip it nothing inbetween.

I since bought CS3 for my business but my daughters still don't have it.

# Yeah, the hooky versions tend to work by not talking to adobe, there is a very easy workaround to stop it
talking to adobe and getting your serial blacklisted but I have a legit business and really don;t want to be using pirate software, £300 odd quid I can stomach for business needs but I can't justify £969 and I'm not sure how they can!

That does pretty much answer it though as I would be being bought it by someone who works for a Uni for my useage. I figured Adobe would say that anyways,
Just wondering if anyone knows whether they can trace it in anyway?

Thanks for that.

# Well, I guess not
I guess notso long as the person buying it doesn't want to use it on their computer or will not try to upgrade at any time in the future. So much trust and so many variables involved.

I agree that the price is way prohibitive. I've been using a second-hand copy of Photoshop I picked up in a charity shop for years on my PC but when my new business relied totally on it and a mac I had to end up buying CS3 Design Standard. I now want to upgrade to the full version (or at least add on Dreamweaver) and that will cost me almost as much as purchasing from new.
