Maybe not quite..
When I lived in NL, a few of my friends had no idea where my village was. Fair enough, it didn't matter to the story I was telling them about getting lost by a hill; at this point they both chimed in unison, 'oh, I know where you mean now!'

First time I was in Amsterdam
It was Koninginnedag and the streets were full of drunk Dutch people shouting at each other - they sounded exactly like drunk Midlanders shouting at each other. It was then I decided that I would be returning to the Netherlands and learning Dutch. It wasn't as easy as I imagined.
