This is a normal post Probably shared with the other 4 "flats" in the originally 2-up 2-down terraced house.
That's usually the case in these places.

I looked at a couple recently when looking for a place. What I hate most about it is that landlords proudly offer these places and expect money in exchange for living being there.

This is a normal post by comparison, I live just outside Manchester, pay £20 a month more in rent, and get a 2 bedroom flat with everything in separate rooms
bear in mind that because of that I only pay £280 a month in rent since I have a flatmate. Seriously, why the fuck would anyone live in or around London for that sort of price?

This is a normal post Because it's London.
London has everything that everywhere else in England doesn't have:

- Jobs (particularly if you want elite-type jobs such as creative or high-paying finance jobs)

- All the amenities you could ever want including, entertainment, culture, shopping and cuisine from every corner of the globe, plus a public transport system to get you to those amenities

- True cultural diversity where people from all over the world [for the most part] generally mix together in harmony - one of the first questions anyone gets asked when being introduced to new people is "So, where are you from?" and you never know what they're going to say. It's wonderful.

- London is possibly culturally, economically, politically and historically, the most important city in the world.

Yes, London is extortionately expensive. I probably will never be able to buy a house here, but in living here I at least have a shot at ending up in my chosen career (one of those creative ones I wouldn't be able to do in Aylesbury, or Doncaster where I have previously lived, or in Cheltenham where my brother lives and works in a pub for 50 hours a week and earns only just over half of what I earn).

This is a normal post Those are my roots too. I live in west London specifically so I can be closer to the green spaces.
But there's simply no place like it to pursue a career dream.

I'm not saying London is better than everywhere else (I'd love to be able to do what I want to do in a nice rural town, but the work simply doesn't exist there), just that people usually go to live there for a reason and realise they have to pay a price for it.

This is a normal post We can drown each other's sorrows then, Tabs.
Then leer over other people and talk about how we'd "give him/her one" whilst not doing anything about it.

This is a normal post Oh yes
Terrible place, I only ever pass through London and try to hold my breath and soul whilst doing so lest someone tries to suck them out of me for a profit. Cunt central.

This is a normal post havnt been in londo now for the last weeks since being made redundant
can honestly i dont miss the the driving there or working in some of the shitiest houses i have seen but on the most part even some of the poorest imigrants i have helped and worked with will offer you a drink or some food as a matter of politness/honour despite being ripped of and having to live in conditions that you or i would find intolerable.
i made some great friends and tried many foods that i would probably never have had a chance to sample if i hadnt had that job, but the cost of renting any were is simply crippling

Who exactly are they trying to fool? (fools I suppose).
London is for visiting, not for living in.
