This is a normal post Very few people are actually calling for an outright gun ban in the US
Like you say - background checks, testing, licensing and registration PLUS third party liability insurance would satisfy most of the so-called anti-gun lobby. How is owning a gun less onerous than owning a car?

Having said that, holy fuck cars kill a lot of people in the US too - 320 million population and over 30k road related deaths and the same gun deaths every year. Compared to the UK, 65 million population but less than 2k road deaths yearly.

The whole gun thing is stupid, everyone knows the answer, America just needs to embrace change, not fear it.
