You can ferment milk though to make it fizzy and slightly alcoholic.

When I was in Mongolia, I could never figure out if it was "fermented" intentionally
or as a consequence of hygiene and temperature.

When I were a kid...
My two favourite drinks were milk and the occasional lemonade we were allowed. So whenever my mum wasn't looking, I'd get the best of both worlds and mix the two in a glass. I do remember actually liking it, or at least convincing myself that I did, although the thought of it now makes me both bork and want to try it again.
Shame qotw seems to have died a sad death. I was saving this for that.
