This is a normal post "I just missed the meeting where we decided using violence to combat nazis & fascists was a bad thing."
As far as I know, attacking a person for espousing a personal belief, however repugnant, is still illegal. The US declared war upon a country, not a political party or belief.

The problem, as we have seen recently in the US, is if you believe violence against nazis should be unchecked, a bad actor could label another as a "nazi" and harm them, seize their property, etc. It is a dangerous path.

These guys are fucking Nazis though.

This is a normal post Yeah, they are inbred morons who have a severe self esteem problem.
And absolutely harmless physically, as a voting bloc, and as fashion mavens. Had people ignored them like they shoulda done, no one would have ever heard of Charlottesville. However, I suspect this was planned to make a splash by those organizations who announced months ago that they were putting money and resources into such things.

"But she is a Nazi, judge, that's why I beat up my girlfriend"

Right-o! Her body's barely cold FFS.

Jesus man, the actual Nazi party was laughed at for years as a bunch of inbred thugs. Conservatives tried to reign them in with some concessions and that worked out really well.

This is a normal post See, even you didn't read about all the violence perpetrated on the rally goers. That might alter your opinion.
The ass driving the car did so after the rally was shut down. Just look it up on google or reddit, people are punching tons of photos of people sucker punching nazis.

This is a normal post I've seen plenty of pics of people punching Nazis.
It's not what I would personally do no, but it doesn't alter my view or make me feel a shred of sympathy for them.

As for the actual death happening after the rally was shut down, I guess it was completely unrelated or their own fault for not getting a permit. If it was a Muslim, you're be calling them a terrorist.

This is a normal post These generalizations on race and religion are simply harmful and can lead to no good end.
These people have perverted the idea of tolerance and peace.

This is a normal post more dangerous than letting nazis openly advocate genocide?

(, Wed 16 Aug 2017, 15:50, , Reply)
This is a normal post The Black Panthers, Nation of Islam, and the founder of Planned Parenthood openly advocate genocide.
Especially against the chus. We don't yet criminalize thought or speech.

This is a normal post lots of people have had some funny ideas
but Planned Parenthood don't push an ideology based on that, and I have my doubts about the other examples you give too. Right wing parties are not necessarily Nazis either, but some of these *literally* are.

Like most countries you have hate speech laws, you even examine people's social media when they enter your country.

Free speech does not mean no consequences.

This is a normal post Hahahah, there's that ubiquitous description of leftist protest: "mostly peaceful".
But I agree with the theme of that article, for sure. I'm sure we've all been bullied for things we think, how we look, our religion, our nationality - the key is not to reuse those actions on things we don't like because we just justify the earlier bad acts.

And there have been consequences! Imagine being subject to the Mob that is social media: call you out, get you fired, ruin your life and without a moment's pause to verify that what you have been told about that person is true.

This is a normal post Nazism isn't just something "we dislike"
It's not like crusty hippies or tea-party folks; yes dickheads at protests across the political spectrum overstep the mark but we're talking here about the whole point of the protest being to celebrate the violent persecution and slaughter of others.

This is a normal post Indeed. And for the time being that's not criminal in the US
But by opening up Nazis to any consequence, you return to an environment where anyone can be accused of being Nazi/witch/whatever and be punished. With the fickleness and passing fads of humanity, that is a dangerous precedent.

This is a normal post Leaving aside Planned Parenthood becasue it sounds like you've got another ludicrous conspiracy theory in your head
I suppose the difference between Nazis and those groups is that Nazis claim to represent white people, the majority, who already control the state apparatus and therefore the means to actually commit genocide
(, Wed 16 Aug 2017, 17:06, , Reply)
This is a normal post That's like saying that mosquitos are living and nazis live and white people in government live so mosquitos can commit genocide.
And Margaret Sanger was a notorious eugenicist.

This is a normal post Don't know about illegal but i've always prioritise morality over the law anyway.
In the late 90's we tolerated the espousal of the personal belief in an extreme form of islam. Many marches we protected by the police. A busy road outside a mosque was shut every friday because they were banned from praying inside.

Those exact same people that marched went on to form Isis and we've got a problem in europe that's going to take a generation.

Our own anti facist movements seemed to leave them alone rather than confront them. Which is a shame.

People protested peacefully against going to war against Iraq, Hundreds of thousands marched without violence. The UK went to war anyway on what turned out to be a lie.

On the flip side, in the early 90's the government introduced an unpopular tax. We fucking rioted, we used violence and because we rioted that tax was removed.

In the mid 30's the black shirts tried to march through the east end of london. They had the right to march, they had police protection.
The people met this march with violence and drove them back.

When confronted with fascism violence is justified because the alternative is to legitimatise as a valid political viewpoint.

The point I am trying to make is sometimes you need to have a scrap to make sure complete arse hats get nowhere near achieving their political aims.

This is a normal post Well, get ready for bombs at abortion clinics.
That's the reason we have the law: morality can differ depending on who's talking.
