I posted a link this morning pointing towards a good BBC dramatization of the Chernobyl disaster.
My apologies but I have since found that a user has managed to post the whole thing in one big go... If you missed my earlier post it's Ade Edmondson playing the main role in a drama describing the aftermath and politics of the Chernobyl disaster. You can skip the first 5 mins or so as it tells you about what is about to happen but after that it is revealing and well made and great.

They sacrifices of the few... I can't be reminded of it without thinking about the film Сталкер (Stalker) By Tarkovsky

Use 'cc' for English subtitles. Worth tracking down a HD version though.

God that subject line makes me sound like Kryten telling Camille how he feels
in Red Dwarf.

Allow Me:
Сталкер
It's a good film, despite being a bit "arty". Perhaps the subtitles lose something in translation but I enjoyed the book a lot more. On the other hand, it's nice encountering someone else who (I assume) enjoyed it. I don't think I E5 A9 08 B7 you though, so don't get too tumescent.

The long takes and quiet moments produced such a unique mood
which would be different from the book of course. It totally took me off to an ethereal place and a couple of moments of pure magical cinematography sealed it as one of my favourite films.

A really good take on events at the time
Not long finished watching it. Never come across this before - and it was v. well done. We're planning to go on a vicarious disaster tourist visit next year.
Thanks for the link. *Clicks*

I Wish
there was some sort of World Medal that could be given to people who make the supreme sacrifice - who knowingly go to their deaths in order to save others.
There were many, many brave men and women who dieD at Chernobyl. But of particular note are the three divers who volunteered to open the sluice gates knowing that they were going to their certain death. Their courage saved millions.
Alexei Ananenko
Boris Baranov
Valeri Bezpalov
Rest In Peace.
