Henry Williamson, author of Tarka the Otter
was a Nazi sympathiser, and joined Mosley's British Union of Fascists. It was rumoured that he used to stomp around in cornfields making huge arrows pointing towards RAF Chivenor in North Devon hoping to aid German bombers looking for the airfield.
