This is a link post May I ask for a little advice on this website?
I know lots of you on here are very creative and stuff and I was wondering if you'd have any words of wisdom for my friend Haroon. He's very talented I think but he gets no support at home, coming from a background that doesn't really approve of pictures anyway. He keeps creating but doesn't really know how to get his work out there. Maybe someone here would know of some publications or agencies/galleries who might like his work, or skate/surf/snowboard companies or other creative people who might like to collaborate with him? Anything would be welcome, thanks for reading. Sorry if links isn't really the place to ask, but it's my favourite.

This is a normal post I know it's a thing we say to noobs, to stir up trouble
But this time you genuinely should post this on /board as well. There are a lot of people in the profession over there; /links is more for skiving and bitching.

This is a normal post ^^^ This
But I'd also consider posting it in an existing, empty-ish thread near the top with "threadjack" in the subject, not as a new thread. New threads for this kind of request get them all cranky.

/Edit - actually, saying that, this is some pretty good stuff, and it's all arty and stuff, maybe it should be in a new thread. I dunno. Don't listen to me, I'm rubbish.

This is a normal post It's nice stuff, but yeah the site could do with a bit of pimping up.
I am with Lord of teh 9 on this, some of the guys on /board are amazing at this sort of thing, and only too happy to help. I have put stuff up there myself when I have had design issues and had some really kind people give me input and help do the actual work. You will get a few that take the piss, but overall they are a nice bunch over there. Good luck with it!

This is a normal post He's a good illustrator and nice to see people since hand drawing this kind of thing.
since "still"

Very suitable for printing on T-Shirts and I see he's done some already.

I've bought a couple of shirts created by independents that have featured on blogs like the Awesomer.
theawesomer.com/tag/t-shirts/

/board would have more knowledge on what else he can do.

[edit]
Just thinking about it...
Might be worth contacting art galleries too.

This is a normal post If it's any help: I've got a friend who's a fairly sucessful illustrator (well, it's entirely paid his way for the last 20 years)
I reckon schmoozing is desperately important: making contacts by attending every private view, event, fair &c. going.
Sadly, reckon living in that there london helps too.

This is a normal post He seems to have a good client list already.
Has he tried getting back in touch with them to see if they need any more work or know anyone who does?

This is a normal post Can't really help much
But he could perhaps approach local bands and venues offering to do posters etc. If they say they use a marketing company, find out who they are and approach them. Not any money to be made I suspect, but will get him 'out there'.
