delusional unpaid job ad #437
Idle time-killing saw me just stumble across this ad, which left me speechless in more ways than I can begin to explain.
note: I am not actually looking for a job, an if I were it wouldn't be as a magazine editor. I just read anything I can find on the internet in order to avoid doing any actual work.

Best bit
"A C.V would be most appreciated, but not absolutely needed."
I can't quite work out what the scam is though. it's on Gumtree so there must be one

there's loads of these daydreamers on Gumtree, few as 'away with the fairies' as this one though.
Own thread hijack:
on the bus last night, heard a drunk guy blathering on to some poor cow he'd just sat next too. He provided this gem, when lamenting his choice of girlfriend:
"I should have known better. She already had three kids by four different blokes."

Eh?
"It would also be advantageous if you are someone with proclivities for personal amelioration and edification."
I'm a bit thick. Can someone tells me what that sentence actually means?
Cheers

It basically means you're going to be editing an unreadable magazine with a wanker.

who are you to question his (certain it's a bloke, for some reason) sentences?
He's creating a GAME-CHANGING magazine.
edit: okay, he says his name's James, which may be why I felt sure it was a bloke.

So
It means:
"It would also be advantageous if you are someone with tendencies for personal improvement and improvement of your morality or intellect.
So. He wants someone who's a bit thick and could do with their morals updating....
*thinks*
He means me, doesn't he?
Cheers

Irony being
that the person who's apparently to keen to employ a brilliant, erudite editor can't write for toffee, despite chucking some big words about.

I'm not sure that it's ironic.
It's more likely that he's at least sufficiently self-aware that he wouldn't be able to do the job.

Hmmm
'Self aware' wasn't the main impression I got from reading the ad, but maybe.
