This is a normal post Originally manga, then a good Anime film, an ok Anime series.
Created by the same guy that made Apple Seed, likes drawing girls in the nuddy too.

Also i'm not watching this until someone confirms the originals oiled up lesbian 3 way bean flicking fest features.

This is a normal post Definitely so.
They released a re-mastered version a year or two back that was very faithful to the original so either of those is fine. There was also a sequel, not as good story-wise as the first one but much better visually.

The series has its moments if you get bored after that, but I wouldn't bother with the second season as it gets a bit Metal Gear.

Frankly, I'd ignore the live action film entirely. I'm only going because there's nothing else on that catches my eye until Guardians 2 next month. I fully expect to grind my teeth at a radically different and over-simplified plot and Scarlett Johansson's complete lack of screen presence or acting ability. I know the Major is supposed to be an emotionless woman in a robot body, but it'd be nice if they got someone who doesn't appear that way by default.

The manga is good but the first Anime is more accessable.
The second anime is a visual feast but quite hard for me to follow.

and I didn't appreciate it whatsoever, so when much later I met another human being who had seen it, I felt like I had missed something when they glowed about it.
