This is a question Accidental animal cruelty

I once invented a brilliant game - I'd sit at the top of the stairs and throw cat biscuits to the bottom. My cat would eat them, then I'd shake the box, and he would run up the stairs for more biscuits. Then - of course - I'd throw a biscuit back down to the bottom. I kept this going for about half an hour, amused at my little game, and all was fine until the cat vomited. I felt absolutely dreadful.

Have you accidentally been cruel to an animal?
This question has been revived from way, way, way back on the b3ta messageboard when it was all fields round here.

Not so much unintentional as tangental cruelty...
...is those supercilious arseholes who choose names for thier pets that, rather than being an acceptable moniker for the animal itself, are in fact a reflection of thier own wit. Or more often, lack thereof.

The best example I've come across (though not here), twice in fact, is cats named Kat-Mandou. No. Stop. Teh Humour. My sides are splitting. I welcome other examples from my fellow B3TAns.

Seriously, I'd rather see an animal named something really unimaginative, like Hammy the Hamster, Moggy the Cat etc. At least that's a fucking name rather than some lame-ass attempt to stroke the owner's own ego. They'd have saved money and time, and possibly an animal's lifelong embarassment getting a hooker to do it instead.

I've known more than a few
pythons named Monty.

If I ever had one, I think I'd name it Fred, just so people could ask, "Why not Monty?" and then I could give them a good hard Dope Slap.

At least three that I can think of.
My sister has one, and I've met quite a few people who either had one at home or were carrying one around outside (at fairs and the like). In fact, I remember being with my wife at a RenFaire when a kid wearing a python happened to be standing behind us watching something (I think a juggling act), and the snake touched my wife's arm. In retrospect, it's amazing that she's not still perched quivering in a tree there...

My friend has a cat...
...who is named Kit E. Hunter. Upon questioning why he's a kitty hunter and not a mousey hunter, my friend replied that that is how it's supposed to be.

My roomate also named our cat "C.C.", which is short for Cotton Candy, my roommate's favorite euphemism for pussy.

Vivien off of The Young Ones
had a hamster called "Special Patrol Group". I like the idea of using a collective noun to describe a singular object.

names
I've got 2 corn snakes they are called snappers and snuffles, they were going to be Kellogs and Crunchy Nut.

As for a reply a bit earlier, my nan's cat is called ceefor.

There is nothing wrong with stupid names for animals.

Had A Hamster call Professor Lugovoy though, is that daft?
