Please, please can we have the delete button removed.
Surely it's enough to be able to edit your post and remove whatever you want to get rid of, without deleting all the conversations going on within subthreads?

Some forums let you delete your post, but leave all the sub-threads intact, which might satisfy.
I like things the way they are (plus, they mayhem that follows a thread deletion is quite amusing).

Some forums I visit allow administrators to bar certain people from using it, or from creating new threads.
This I think would be a better solution all round.

I would advocate deleting only for messages with no replies.
To give you a chance to "undo" for example if you realise someone else's reply makes yours irrelevant. But once someone's replied to a post it becomes part of a conversation and is un-deletable.
