This is a question Celebrity Encounters III

I once stood next to Ian Beale out of EastEnders in the gents' toilets at the BBC. BEAT THAT. Tell us of celebrity encounters that went well, or meetings with the famous that ended up as a complete disaster. (And we'll take it as read you've just made up a "I got touched up by Jimmy Savile" story, OK?)

I've had a beer with the Prime Minister
In conversation he's extremely nice and extremely posh. That's about it.

He can't possibly be extremely nice because...
[stock knee-jerk, logically unsupported, socialist vitriol, born out of envy]

Yeah, pretty much

(, Thu 5 Dec 2013, 16:13, closed)
It's not envy.
The likes of him work to the disadvantage of the rest of us. Jealousy doesn't come in to it.

5/6 isn't bad.

Nothing illogical about it.
4/6, thank you very much.

In other news, I don't think much of my seasonal icon.

Oh it's Rudolf?
I thought it was some kind of demon.

Looks like a skinned bear, to me.
Happy Bloodletting, everyone!

you're a funny guy

(, Thu 5 Dec 2013, 21:10, closed)
Nah,
Just a cock.

You lefties are so easy,
anyone would think you were genuinely angry about stuff.
(, Fri 6 Dec 2013, 18:26, closed)
you mean you were being serious?
that makes it even funnier

Half joking... though there is a serious point to be made:
Both left and right wing have their hilariously obvious weak spots.
I identify with neither, given that we live in a world of complex issues and diverse opinions, none of which can be arbitrarily pinned to a single axis. It's especially amusing when a politician is attacked on personal grounds that have fuck all to do with their politics, since it tells you vastly more about the intelligence of their attacker than it does about the politician.

Given that David Cameron is the example in question here, let us note the usual sorts of attacks from b3ta people,
(Quick google search)
* www.b3ta.com/links/David_Cameron_Sings_The_Blues
* www.b3ta.com/links/David_Cameron_Common_People
* www.b3ta.com/links/463769
* repeated examples of "shiney face"

Now, I'm not saying those things aren't funny, because they are funny, but let's not pretend there's even an ounce of intelligent political debate going on there. It's on a par with how everyone hated Tony Blair but instead of voicing genuine reasons (for which there were a great many) would just pick on his "liars smile", and bray slogans like "New LIEbour", (or even pick on his wife's abnormally sized mouth), whilst clapping themselves on the back for really sticking it to him (note that he is now earning more money than he did when in office).

Basically, having identified David Cameron as the leader of the "nasty party" you don't even have to try and raise any issues, backed up by a rationalised understanding of things like "how to balance fiscal policy when you're massively overspending during a global recession"... which I guess is lucky for you, because probably less than 1% of people could even begin to grasp what that shit even means, let alone succeed in any kind of debate about it.

So, how about imagining the OP was posted 10 years ago, my response would be:

He can't possibly be extremely nice because...
[off-the-shelf, reactionary, emotionally stunted, capitalist rhetoric, born from hatred of poor people]

(Now do you see? Both sides are fucking ridiculous.)

tl;dr
yawn

Thanks for admitting defeat.
Not many are willing to admit when they've been trounced by a superior.
