This is a question I don't understand the attraction

Smaug says: Ricky Gervais. Lesbian pr0n. Going into a crowded bar, purely because it's crowded. All these things seem to be popular with everybody else, but I just can't work out why. What leaves you cold just as much as it turns everyone else on?

Watching an event on a mobile phone screen in real time when you're actually there
I see this a lot at gigs - people who spend the entire event recording it on their mobile phone and watching the entire thing on the screen.

Why? They obviously want to record it for posterity, but at the same time they don't seem that bothered to be there in the first place.

I don't get it... they can show the video to their mates and say "I was there", but paradoxically, they weren't really there at all.

It makes my head hurt just thinking about it.

And since you know it'll be on youtube anyway
...because of all the other twats holding up their phones when you're trying to watch...

As a subset - people who get on people's shoulders at gigs. Selfish bastards...

Yes, this
I was recently at a concert and the twat in front of me was holding up his mobile phone and recording, so I couldn't see the band. I shouted in his ear that i was here to watch the concert live, not to see it through his shitty phone screen or to watch it later on youtube. He didn't get why I was annoyed and continued to record. After around 5 minutes he obviously realised it was difficult to record while being constantly digged in the back by an elbow and having beer poured over his feet - and went to stand somewhere else.

To continue recording and watching it on a 1 inch screen.

I am short
If I don't look at camera/phone screens I generally get a couple of hours of uninterrupted backs.

im glad other people agree with this
and to people who aren't as tall and may struggle, fair enough. But a lot of the guys I've seen have been 6ft easily. If it's an exciting band it's even more bizzare.
