This is a question Common

Freddy Woo writes, "My wife thinks calling the front room a lounge is common. Worse, a friend of hers recently admonished her daughter for calling a toilet, a toilet. Lavatory darling. It's lavatory."

My own mother refused to let me use the word 'oblong' instead of 'rectangle'. Which is just odd, to be honest.

What stuff do you think is common?

My eldest daughter
...thinks I am common.

She's always correcting me when I say things like "Bu uer" (butter with the 't's dropped).

She says, "No daddy, it's buTTer!"

Also, apparently she thinks that paper plates are common. She went to a 'party' the other week where the food for the kids was served on paper plates, she came home and said, "I don't think they had much money daddy, they had PAPER plates"

Thinking about it, this might have been a candidate for the last QOTW.

If you're dropping your "t"s in butter, then I'd have to agree with your daughter; that is pretty common.
