Imbecillic backpedalling
in 3...2...1...
(, Thu 19 May 2011, 10:03, 1 reply)
I'm back pedalling from nothing.
Someone took offence to a joke, that's fine. It happens.

At least now they are taking offence to the right thing.

It wasn't that it was an offensive topic, because that's what goes on here.
it was simply because you seem to be coming across as some kind of screaming retard when someone calls you out on your awful delivery.
(, Thu 19 May 2011, 10:06, closed)
Ah
No, I am happy to accept my delivery was bad too, that's fine.
(, Thu 19 May 2011, 10:07, closed)
Your joke isn't funny
If what you've said is true, you of all people should know exactly how unfunny it is.

Does having a relative die from a disease give you immunity from being told-off for cracking jokes about it?
You haven't once addressed my unhappiness with your joke and went straight for the 'I've got a dead granny' get out of jail free card.

Do you not think its possible, maybe even likely that if I fundraised for the AS, I've got personal contact with people affected by AD.

Rather than go for that, I just gave a sensible explanation for why I thought your post was not very funny, which it isn't.
(, Thu 19 May 2011, 10:11, closed)
OK
Here is my last word:

no, that doesn't give me immunity.

yes, it probably was a bit easy to go straight to that card, but like it or not it happens to be true

and frankly, i don't care that you are offended by the joke.

Are we done now?

There are more worthwhile things to act clever about, sonny.
It's just a shame it's taken you 10+ posts to demonstrate how naive, ignorant and thoroughly stupid you are.

AD is actually a horrendous disease and I've met people either suffering from it or are closely connected to someone suffering from it. The cases vary but the one common factor is that all of them are terrified. Like constantly terrified.
(, Thu 19 May 2011, 10:17, closed)
I think its a real shame that even knowing the truth about AD, you've decided to post that
I've had pretty much that exact joke told to me as a fundraiser, members of my team have had the same joke told to them.
I've seen young, inexperienced fundraisers in floods of tears because of jokes like that.

The joke wasn't funny then, isn't funny now and I've told you so.

Given that you've chosen to stand by it, I feel I've no choice but to reiterate what I said before, this is a dreadful disease and every day people trivialise it. Its not high on people's radar when it comes to supporting research or respite care and yet, along with cancer, pretty much everyone you could ever care to meet has known someone who suffers from it, just as you and I have.
(, Thu 19 May 2011, 10:19, closed)
Whoa there, cowpoke.
How come I'm not getting a bollocking for posting a crass cartoon? I don't even own a gran with Alzheimers.

Unless I've forgotten her what with having lolzheimers.
(, Thu 19 May 2011, 10:14, closed)
you insensitive bastard!

(, Thu 19 May 2011, 10:16, closed)
It was the fact that he's pointed out an exact scenario that I'd been in that riled me
your comic, whilst shit, isn't as offensive.
Its more absurdist and would work just as well with 'the bad news is, you've lost your short-term memory'.

Still, I agree, it is crass and my pervious post applies to you pretty much equally.
(, Thu 19 May 2011, 10:22, closed)
I've forgotten what the original point was.
Genuinely.
(, Thu 19 May 2011, 10:28, closed)
OP posted unfunny joke about AD.

(, Thu 19 May 2011, 10:38, closed)
Righto.
I'm not entirely convinced that required a massive big argument but I'm on fairly shaky ground here having wasted half a dozen posts last night humiliating somebody about a minor point of french idiom.
(, Thu 19 May 2011, 10:44, closed)
lolzheimers
made me do snorty noises into my tea.
