This is a question Darwin Awards

Bluffboy says: My mate cheated death and burned his eyebrows off looking down the barrel of a potato gun. Tell us about your brushes with the Grim Reaper through stupidity.

I will say Hi to Charlie for you.
Sadly I have been vilified as being a stupid idiot on some sick Wikipedia site and portrayed as an ‘angle’ in some Sheffield news rags. Basically me and my mates found the roof of a land rover during the snowful period and we just dragged it up to the top of a very, very steep hill. Perhaps if we had used our eyes we might have seen the barbed wire fence at the bottom but we only saw it when we were going 50mph.

Oh well.

I will say hi to Darwin for you.

Signed,

Fran Snow—mobile.

This happened to my very young son
Not on the roof of a Landrover, but on a sledge on a snowy hill. He went shooting down the hill, but somehow managed to turn sharply and end up heading straight towards teh barbed wire fence instead of away from it, as planned (and as everyone else went). Cue me running down the hill as fast as I could, yelling at him to lie down. With seconds to spare he lay down and passed happily underneath the wire. When I got to him he had a huge grin on his face, squealing "again, again!"

Reading that in the news
at news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/south_yorkshire/7868765.stm, I couldn't help noticing the last line:

"Rotherham Council said it had taken steps to prevent people sledging on that particular slope."

To my mind, that was quickly interpreted as "We put a fence up"

I rather imagine...
an a4 piece of paper with a comic-sans "no sledging" pinned to a nearby tree.

This basically happened
To my sister a few years back. Went down a slope, straight into a fence. Not barbed wire but it was at neck height... she was wearing a very thick scarf which probably saved her from serious injury, or worse.
