This is a question My Biggest Disappointment

Often the things we look forward to the most turn out to be a huge let down. As Freddy Woo puts it, "High heels in bed? No fun at all. Porn has a lot to answer for."

Well, Freddy, you are supposed to get someone else to wear them.

What's disappointed you lot?

I'm disappointed in myself
Not for many of the reasons that people have already put forward.

I'm not disappointed with how my life has turned out so far - I've had plenty of ups and downs. I very much believe that without the crappy bits of life we wouldn't appreciate the great bits. To my mind life is a bit like a fairground ride - if the rollercoaster just went along a flat path - even if it was up high - it would just like being on any old train journey. However, if it's going up and down and scaring the bejeezus out of you then you have a great time.

The good bits and the bad bits are needed so we feel alive and not just ... meh.

So that's not what I'm disappointed about.

I'm not disappointed that I haven't done all the things I set out to do with my life. Mainly because I've never had much of a long-term idea of what I wanted to achieve. I'm much more a person who just makes it all up as I go along.

So what really disappoints me about myself?

Well, as a child my parents never placed much (if any) emphasis upon being good looking, slim, or any of those sorts of things. I don't remember ever being told, "Chickenlady, you look so pretty!" by my parents.

This isn't a complaint about my parents, by the way. I'm just pointing out that I was brought up to place greater emphasis upon how a person behaved rather than how they looked.

I've always maintained that looks fade and even with cosmetic surgery and pull in, pull up, skinny knickers and the like, we still can't change the packaging we come in to a greater degree.

So why, oh why am I obsessed with my Hot or Not rating?

Chickenlady, you disappoint me.

I have no idea.
You look just fine from up here at the top.

I refuse to go on there.
I'm taking the moral high ground and I'm scared of the results.
(, Wed 2 Jul 2008, 21:12, closed)
BGB
I admire your moral stand and I wish I'd had the strength of character to refuse to take part in all those shenanigans.

I had entirely forgotten about it until someone mentioned it the other day and that was it....bloody curiosity got the better of me.

Gah!
(, Wed 2 Jul 2008, 21:14, closed)
Erm!
I may be overplaying the moral high-ground a bit and perhaps just underplaying the fear of being last.
(, Wed 2 Jul 2008, 21:19, closed)
But the ridiculous thing is
that it's not about how attractive/good looking/beautiful you may be..that's wildly evident from the scores not just of fellow b3tans but throughout the site. People give scores on really strange criteria - all the blatantly sexy photos get a 10 - regardless of the age of the person in the picture or how attractive they may be.

See, this is why I'm so disappointed in myself - it's not about how good looking anyone may be...I'm not sure what it's about, but I like to compete!

I'm like this with sport too - I've unfortunately got Alpha female drives to win at everything.
I used to play netball - this was only about three or four years ago. I thought to myself, Yes! I can do this! I was crap at school, but that was just because...erm...lack of confidence.

So I went and played...and I have all the drive and desire to win - I *always* play to win.

Sadly my desires are not matched by my abilities.

I can't catch.

I can't throw.

All I have is a determination to win....

Not really very helpful when you fall over people and get yourself in the way. Constantly.

So yes, Alpha female determination not matched by a B3ta female spakhandedness.

:D

I wish I was a lot more competative.
I might have got somewhere in life.

Unfortunately, I'm so laid back I'm horizontal :)
(, Wed 2 Jul 2008, 21:34, closed)
@ Insidian
Aaww! Thank you!

@ BGB

The competitiveness hasn't got me anywhere at all yet.

It's no good being competitive if you suffer from procrastination (also known as bone-idle-itis) and the occasional lack of ability - like the netball.
(, Wed 2 Jul 2008, 21:38, closed)
Well you still place higher than me

and with less votes too

And that's why I think it's all wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong!
(, Wed 2 Jul 2008, 21:43, closed)
Hey!
Harrisp now outranks me!

Good- I was a bit embarrassed at being at the top, to be honest...

Is this 'home' tonight?
I narrowly avoided an ambush by Kaol earlier on another thread, so it's possibly safer here.

So you think.

And another thing!
If they're just a lurker should they even be allowed onto the b3ta page?!

Ggrrrrr!!

I've been angry all day today...no idea why.

I even shouted at some poor shop assistant this morning...I'd taken my parents into town and my dad wanted to go down into the basement of a shop, we couldn't find the lift (he's in a wheelchair ever since his stroke), so my mother went to ask how we could get down there. The shop assistant, not seeing dad and I pointed her in the direction of the stairs. I shouted out, "Wheelchairs aren't very good with stairs you know!"
Which I'm sure she did know...but she clearly didn't know that dad and I were with my mother. So she didn't deserve me shouting in my best hoity-toity voice.

I'm off too now
I want to have a bit of chocolate and watch some Lost then go to sleep.

It's a thrilling life I lead you know.

The Lost and chocolate combined will no doubt ensure I have weird and wonderful dreams.

And tomorrow I have the joys of my tax return to fill in and .... horror of horrors, I have an article to write....so expect me on here all day.

Yes, quite good thanks. I've had lots of fun with people trying to guess the subject of my dream last night. You were the only one who got it right first time.

Al guessed. But only on his 8th attempt!

@ancrenne: It's become hot and sticky here so taking off a tight Spiderman suit has proven to be tricky.

@K2k6: What was your dream about?

*taps cap*

We all ok? Aside from being BEAUTIFUL. I'm not joking either, hotornot is stupid and they let any old idiot vote on your pic.

And being as the usual 'about me' is:

"wl i lik goin out clubin n i like sex its well gud n me n my m8s fink im hot so your guna vote"

I wouldn't worry about it too much!

*sees beauty in everyone*

@Spakka
Evening, sir.

It wasn't really about very much, just that I dreamt I met up with a female b3tard and had a nice time with her.

The fun was in guessing who she was. I had numerous gazzes this afternoon, and some of the guesses were quite interesting. Some were also ridiculous!

I'd like to think I was either playing music or dressed in a white coat doing sciencey stuff. But knowing the way dreams work, I was probably feeding buttercups to a yak or something.

@K2k6: I honestly can't remember. There's a small chance you may have been playing music. Don't remember the details.

The great thing about having a profile pic is that you get to appear in other people's dreams.

Nearing that time of night again.

I'll probably not dream of any of you tonight but who knows, now we have b3taDreamNet(TM).

Shall we mosey over to the new thread that beckyjsbx started?

EDIT: G'night K2k6. Don't forget to check our profile pics.

All we need now is a beer garden.

Is there any way
that we can use the power of the interweb to connect to a huge neural network, enabling us to do live B3taDreamTalk?

Of course, this may be how the Matrix starts...

Hello! Your sig intrigues me...I either have very mundane dreams, incredibly sexual ones, or just terrifying visions of hell. I can't figure them out at all...

Nice to meet you!

Was it my 'HorN' photo that made you say hello? ;p

live B3taDreamTalk
would be great coz then we can actually bring our surreal and bizarre fantasies to life. Plus it would count as time spent on b3ta so we can be productive during the day.
