When I was a child......and for no good reason, I decided that it was bad luck to step on the penultimate stair in any flight of steps. I have no idea why, but it was a habit I kept up for well over five years.

arghI was thinking about this, and started thinking which is the penultimate step? Is the last step the one that is level with the floor/surface you are heading to, or is it the one before that? So that if you were going up the stairs, you would go step step step skip step floor.
