This is a question Old stuff I still know

Our Ginger Fuhrer says that he could still code up a simple game idea in Amstrad Basic, while I'm your man if you ever need to rebuild the suspension on an Austin Allegro (1750 Equipe version). This stuff doesn't leave your mind - tell us about obsolete talents you still have.

Did you push a coin into the reel so that it'd fall out and clink on the floor in good time to remind you to change reels
like in Columbo?

I'm not old enough to have done changeovers.
We used to have platters, which could comfortably hold about 5 hours of film. Like this (left hand side):

(Not that I would have ever left anything other than film sitting on a platter)

But I saw a documentary which suggested otherwise.
It was called "Fight Club" and they stated that a film had to be changed manually and "cigarette burns" told them when.
Don't tell me it was a lie?!?!?!?!?!?!?
