Sometimes when talk to her I don't know what to say. If I said what I wanted to she'd probably throw up anyway.

SURE!

(, Wed 7 Dec 2011, 14:14, Reply)
it's boring I'm afraid
I have a long list, I need 5 lines between each item on the list, how can I do this all at once instead of, right click insert 5 lines etc etc

GO...

at the end of the list put 1 in the cell e.g. F1
then underneath put =F1+6
copy that formular down to the bottom.
Then put 2,3,4,5,6 in the rows below, then in the cell below that =(the cell showing 2)+6 and then copy that down. Copy paste values/ data sort/then delete the column with all the placeholders in.

I hope that makes sense

can I be honest

(, Wed 7 Dec 2011, 14:23, Reply)
If you'd like

(, Wed 7 Dec 2011, 14:24, Reply)
no, not really...

(, Wed 7 Dec 2011, 14:24, Reply)

Basically it sets a placeholder next to each row. So Row 1 will be called 1, row two will be called 7, row three 13.
Then instead of inserting blank rows you label a bunch of spare rows at the bottom of your document. So the first five rows at the bottom will be called 2,3,4,5&6 the next 8,9,10,11&12. That way you can sort it based on the placeholder column and the blank rows slot in.

That makes much more sense, it is though abit of a bodge I'd suggest
I'm surprised that there isn't a "proper" way
(, Wed 7 Dec 2011, 14:35, Reply)
It is a bodge, but spreadsheets aren't designed to have blank rows.
