I havent been to Edinburgh in yearsBut there used to be a great pancake place on Princes Street.
Rose street always used to be good for pubs. Also if you go across Waverley bridge and head up the hill towards the unis etc keep an eye out to your right as that goes into the older parts and there are some great pubs down there
