I would like to apologize if I was out of line last night when
after reading the responses to the lovely BGB's question about the woman who kept saying she didn't want birthday cake but then had her feelings hurt when she didn't get cake, and when a responder said she should be punched and kicked, I called the person a certain name that seems to have had the post removed (or I can't find it anymore anyway).

As I have two beautiful daughters and am lucky to be married to a wonderful woman (who was physically abused in her first marriage) I have absolutely no tolerance for anything related to abuse of women even if it is intended to be a joke. I’ll try to ignore anything like that in the future but probably won’t be able to.

While a lot of what is written here could insult some people, my only problem with this site is that it makes me laugh much too loudly at work. I have however generally not found physical abuse of women to be part of the ethos of this site.

Although I applaud you for apologising, I have to say that thing like that are often said on here. Always as a joke.
Although people on B3TA joke about rape, child abuse and wife beating, I think I can safely say that no one condones it.

Your are right, but possibly part of the problem is that the
jokes about Maddy are so clearly off the wall jokes (which is a defensive mechanism all in its own) and also clearly not real, but when someone talks about the actual abuse they experienced, people either because they have experienced some of this type of crap or just can feel empathetic respond with support.

All though I am now supposed to man the fuck up, I still can’t accept some things. Something that is clearly a joke such as Spanky Hanky’s posts are funny as shit. A one line response about punching or kicking someone is not funny to me but I’ll shut up in the future (or try to anyway). If not I’ll just ignore them.

There is a lot of humour on here I don't agree with.
I just ignore all the rape and Maddie jokes, even though I don't find them amusing and concentrate on the other stuff. I think because there is a lot of people who have never experienced these bad things happening then they can joke about them. I doubt if someone had had a child abducted then they would then find those jokes amusing no matter how wacky their sense of humour. However, I have been known to smile at the odd crass joke and I think it's just a defense mechanism. We joke about these things because if we didn't then the full horror of the situation would hit us.
