This is a question Advice from Old People

Sometimes, just sometimes, old people say something worth listening to. Ok, so it's like picking the needle out of a whole haystack of mis-remembered war stories, but those gems should be celebrated.

Tell us something worthwhile an old-type person has told you.

Note, we're leaving the definition of old up to you, you smooth-skinned youngsters.

Indulge yourself occasionally
my mum always told me (no, not that kind of self-indulgence!).

Today, my kids are at friends' houses for tea, my beloved is on late shift, so I have the whole place to myself. The telly's off, the house is tidy, and I was beginning to feel a bit peckish.

Did I potter around in the kitchen, preparing a healthy yet tasty meal for one? Did I buggery.

I had the hugest bowl of cornflakes. With about half a pint of ice cold milk. Yum. Washed down with a coffee, itself accompanied by a chocolate brownie. By god, I enjoyed that!

Thanks for the tip, mum.

Yep
that's just what I would do if I were left in the house on my own.

I definitely wouldn't take the opportunity to walk around naked and have a kebab.

Definitely not.

I love eating cereal when it isn't breakfast time
it's good

also, I like eating non-breakfast foods for breakfast.

break the mould, eat a lasagne first thing in the morning!

If I walked around naked
I'd either have to close all the blinds or risk giving the neighbours an eyeful. I'd be the talk of the steamie!

Kebabs are "drunk food". Isn't it illegal to eat one sober?

edit: Vipros - I've never tried lasagne for breakfast .... did once have macaroni cheese ... is that close enough?

@ al
Best not to, in case you drip some spicy sauce somewhere naughty. Ow!

Maybe should have clarified
I eat the kebab, and then walk around naked.

And I don't like chilli sauce. Makes my tummy hurt the next day.

@TWW I think some pics would be needed so that we could determine whether or not you would be the talk o' the steamie.

Kebabs
English kebabs are a culinary abomination that is best eaten drunk. For a proper kebab, go to Greece or Turkey.

@al
nice try - not going to happen.

At my age, with two kids, I look better with my clothes on.

food in the morn
Italian is definitely best in the morning
it rests too hard on the tum late at night.
Personally? Breakfast is my favorite dinner.

Eggs and rice do go together mind you.

Wow, you are tame
I have got the house to myself tonight too.

*wavy lines*

*tulip arrives at home*

"Oh! I'm all alone! What SHALL I do?"

*ponders*

*thinks about doing all the things the other b3tans would suggest*

*thinks, can't be bothered, and I've just washed my hands*

I know, I'll devote an entire evening writing ridiculous madeup stories to entertain my b3loved b3tafri3nds on the morrow.

Woo!

hello hlt
*waves*

yes, I am tame. I also don't know how long the house is mine alone, so can't be too adventurous on the "indulgence" scale ....

Naked
I don't walk around naked when home alone, but I do looooooove to shit with the door open. It's hugely liberating.

I think TWW's mum should have elaborated on the meaning of the word "indulge" - I might be wrong, but I think she was intending for you to have Coco Pops[tm] now and again, not Corn Flakes.
(, Wed 25 Jun 2008, 0:02, closed)
but cornflakes?
Surely you could have done something a bit better than cornflakes, I thought they were supposed to be a fairly healthy foodstuff (combined with appropriate reduced fat milk of course)

I still remember the day me and a friend sat and ate a cheesecake for breakfast, yum.

@dapcourt
can't stand Coco Pops (tm).

@ 442 : Full fat milk. Lots of it. Won't have any other kind in the house.
