Be like me
Don't bother filing - just have chaotic piles of papers all over your desk. If a document's important, you'll be able to dig it out if you keep mental records of which pile it's likely to be in. If it lies there until the next tidy up, then it's obviously not that important and can be thrown out.

Or does that only work for mad scientists?
