Magpies are hard to nail..... with nails..
Try putting in 2 nails about 8" apart, one above the other. then, using zip-ties (cable ties) secure the neck to the top one, and the legs to the bottom.
Feel free to change nail-spacing and orientation depending upon size and desired orientation of Magpie.
