This is a question Professions I Hate

Broken Arrow says: Bankers, recruitment consultants, politicians. What professions do you hate and why?

Chiropractors
Money grabbing twats.

They have no interest in your long term welfare, only making sure you book your next appointment. If they actually cured people's problems (if they were able) then they would make much less money.

Spend any money you would have spent on a chiropractor on seeing a decent physio. Then when they give you exercises, do them.

I have no complaints about chiropractors.
Cracking service!

oh- yes
pay £30 (and that's concession rate) for just 5 minutes or less. I'm seeing a physio now on the NHS instead after feeling my money was wasted. I'd rather pay £30 for an hour massage!

Did that include the happy finish?

Do exercise
Pilates, yoga etc

You'll feel better and spend less money.

Litigious too
Just ask Simon Singh.

Who could have thought...
...that suing someone for telling the truth might have consequences. Cue Martin Robbins in the Guardian.

Actually, they worked for me.
OK, yes, 30-40 quid for less than that many minutes. Yes, he drove a silver porsche, and yes, what *really* helped was having a very cute physio show me some exercises followed by taking up yoga.

He did work at fixing the initial problem though, and actually seemed quite pleased once I was in the position not to need his services any more.

Then you my friend
are the happy exception.

When I paid for my services by cheque and THEY forgot to bank it or lost it or whatever. I was treated to some very rude behaviour when they were chasing payment, apparently paying them straight after the session wasn't sufficient.

The guy was an absolute cnut.

Can we combine this
with my similar spleen vent about homeeopathers ? Just Woo-sters in general ?
(, Thu 27 May 2010, 16:48, closed)
can for me
if you can get the interwebs to make it happen.

I don't get the fuss.
Having a mild Scoliosis my back is always handled well by my chiropractor. As for Singh, I feel a shade conflicted I did read the article it seemed extreme in parts but nevertheless he was well within his rights to publish it if it was verifiable.
I mean I'm very much against non-scientific opinions on health, I was happy to see funding on homeopathy go but on this matter it has had a precedent for working for at least five people I know and so I calculated the mean and paid for my appointment.
