This is a question Rubbish Towns

I once went to Basildon. It was closed, I got chased by a bunch of knuckle-dragged yobs until I was lost in a maze of concrete alleyways and got food poisoning off pie. Tell us about the awful places you've visited or have your home.

Thanks to SpankyHanky for the suggestion

I live in Nottingham...
...and haven't been shot/stabbed yet! But I have had two attempted muggings in full view of police officers (who did nothing until I'd knocked the pathetic muggers to the floor!), have had a 7 year old child offer me drugs at 2pm in the market square and while at Clarendon college I was pushed down some stairs by a chav for 'wearing black you goth bitch, innit!'... But I love Nottingham and all the grotty little suburbs. Some of the scenery is stunning, and although there are many eyesores, there is some amazing architecture. Nottingham might be a shithole, but look at these pages...there are clearly vast areas of the UK that would benefit from a good bombing...but its better the devil you know.

I like the big powerstation on the way into Nottingham from the West.

Been on a night out in Nottingham - never felt so threatened than by the large groups of punchy looking men who hang around.

But also been on another night out in Nottingham and had a cracking time.

Swings and seesaws and roundabouts.

Nottingham
I grew up in Basford, where I saw my fair share of nutters, such as seeing some bloke at 4pm on a weekday being chased by some lads with bats.

Still, there are nice parts too, Woolaton Hall, Nottingham Castle, The Trip, The Bell.

I wouldn't live anywhere else.

St. Anne's
I visited a friend of a friend there a few times.

The first time I went, I didn't realise it was a red light area, until I saw the signs warning off potential kerb-crawlers.

Classy place...
