How sexist Tennessee isSLVA asked this earlier and several people seemed to get upset. It is case law in TN that the mother gets custody of the children in a divorce. My ex-sister-in-law was awarded custody of my nephews AND all charges (prostitution, possession, possession with intent to sell, etc) were dropped because the judge said "your kids need their mother right now." I live in a fucked up state where any woman, no matter how bad, will be treated like princesses if they have kids. Oh, and after she was arrested SIX DIFFERENT TIMES for the same offences, my brother was awarded custody and is the inspiration for me to be a good dad.

I wish the UK was betterA friend of mine isn't allowed to see his son more than for a couple of hours every other week, just because he has a penis and his ex wife doesn't. He had to get a court to say he was allowed to phone his own child on Christmas Day, yet anyone else who happened to find out the house phone number would have no such legal hurdles. Apparently being a separated-from-the-mother father is grounds for restrainig-order like restrictions rather than being allowed to treat your child like your own child.
