After embarrassing myself so many times at others' bad but funny news, I've had to develop a coping strategy.I put my hand over my face as if in horror and physically hold my mouth together to fend off the grin. The inevitable chuckle then sounds like a gasp of horror. Works, but you have to be quick.

fortunatelyi found out afterwards that pretty much everyone she told laughed. she got used to it and didn't get upset by it.
